I'm an American History teacher and I made this immigration video, featuring the music of Seattle underground hip hop artists Blue Scholars. I tried to convey the joy and wide-eyed optimism of these immigrants, coupled with the conditions they had to endure. Thanks to any and all videos I used in this production. Also features numerous photos from acclaimed photographer Jacob Riis.

  • @silver610310 Nice propaganda there buddy. Keep it up.

  • @garybsg these folks came from lands where even if you worked, you didn't eat. Wars, oppression.... Life was easier for them in the US, despite the hard work over there compared to where they come from... many of them sent money back to old countries.

  • @subtleSteppes The "State" made what distinguishes the US: technologically advanced and wealthy nation with a safety net and low poverty level. There are plenty other immigrant countries where education and other government programs were neglected, e.g., Mexico or Brazil. You can't build wealth without government investment in universities and such "free" freeways. So, thank Uncle Sam for what you take for granted since you were born and received your "free" polio vaccine shot.

  • Excellent Video! It is very inspiring to see a music group who has a genuine message coupled with well put-together clips from our country's history. One can only conclude that you must be an outstanding teacher. Bravo!

  • @gjerrildkro Early Americans built the capital in which we now flourish. Limited government allowed people to cooperate freely with one another and build wealth. Thanks to the modern State, they have done everything to undo the works of our forefathers.
