Interesting introduction that explains a bit about the song, and as always an amazing rendition by the Brothers.

  • FECK THE BRITS.

  • Auld

  • YES,I think theyve had a few bevvies,great song..

  • twasn't anti free state anything. he was trying to save an ira man from capture when he was arrested, not trying to disrupt the state

  • Right it was Mountjoy and its too simplistic to say he was in prison for anti-British activities. He understook an unauthorised bombing mission in England when he was a teenager but he was imprisoned by the Irish government for anti-free state activities, he was a hard core republican. its a great song though.

  • Its Mountjoy jail not Kilmainham

  • sends chills down my tummy, especially the harmony

  • this song is a great tune.

  • this song brings a tear to my eye i love it reminds me of a famous irish man i lived with called ian larkin big as a house strong as a bear used to sing it after a few pints of stout. what a boy he was.

  • Great song.
