They were all fantastic characters. Captain Furillo was the rare archetypal leader who actually went to bat for his people. He was beloved and respected, but the character also had depth that came from private vulnerability.
The show was only second to The Wire.

Still got to me as well ...yes indeed. Hill Street Blues was about hope and sadness in a bleak environment from which not even the best of them could escape. Sweetly sad and beautifully executed. A great show that will endure long after its time.

I just watched the episode when Joe was killed. All these years later it still got to me.
As good as it gets - probably the best cop show of all time.

I still love this show. I watched it all the time when I was little. I think it has been a great influence in my desire to go into Law Enforcement. Thanks for the clip.
