West Chester NLCS Win, RIOT - Phillies Go To World Series 10/22/09 Walnut, Matlack, WCU Campus

Oct, 2009. West Chester University students and people in West Chester, PA go crazy after the Philadelphia Phillies win 10-4 against the Dodgers and go to the World Series on October 21, 2009. Call it a Riot? This dude gets arrested, Matlack Street goes wild, Walnut Street mayhem, Phillips Memorial building tunnel goes mad, The Quad is full of people, West Chester University congratulates the Phillies, West Chester, WCU, WCU PA, Police, WCU Police, rioting = These words identify the night! So far, everything went pretty well and people acted mature. Can't wait to see what happens when they take the title in the World Series....

I have been living in West Chester for the past 15 years, and the students at WCU are destroying the burrow. No respect for anything or anyone but themselves... Wish the school would just magically shut down so all those no lifes can LEAVE.

I think you meant Borough. Not burrow. And I happen to enjoy the excitement the students bring to this town. And the money they spend helps the town. If all 14,000 students disappeared how would that impact West Chester financially?

This is not a riot, it's a celebration, and that kid didn't wind up getting arrested. Phans and police all did well. There were only 2 arrests that night and they happened uptown.

Riot may have been the wrong term to use but you know it is what people entered when they searched for this video on YouTube. 1. I didn't get arrested 2. I'm not a Phillies fan (I was wearing a Cincinnati shirt) 3. I wasn't running my mouth, I was allegedly shaking the cop car. 4. It was nowhere near a riot, people just like getting together and making some noise when their team wins. Yes I know it was a stupid thing to do, but it happens. The fact that everyone's getting all upset about the whole thing is lame. Lastly, this town would be nothing without the university.

third, im an upperclassmen. Ive been at WCU for three years, and each year i have to deal with shitty generalizations and logic-less speeches on how wcu should blow itself up. the town is being supported by the college. it simply would not be as big as it is if there were no campus. most of the income is parking tickets, convenience sales, and bar income, where much of the costs associated with alcohol goes to taxes. all of this is more common with younger, out of town people.

The guy they "arrested" was let go 5 minutes after. he was placed on the ground because the idiot ran his mouth.
