STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- July 31, 2010. Two dozen protesters stood up against bigotry on Saturday. The protesters gathered outside a closed convent that would have been the site of a new mosque -- had the sale of the property been approved by the owners, the Catholic Archdiocese of New York. The archdiocese killed the deal in response to pressure from community members. To Ed Josey of the NAACP, and other local activists, the community's display of "bigotry" has tarnished the reputation of Staten Island. In an attempt to "rectify" the situation, Josey and other non-Muslims stood with a group of Muslim women outside the former convent - holding signs that said, "Staten Island Says No To Bigotry" and "Islamophobia - No!!"
Much appreciated, every one should work for peace and harmony in this world. Hate won't solve any probs, it never did.
