Are you kidding me? The only way I am going to Baja is feet first. Fortunatley many Americans feel the same way. Sure it is safer the further south you go but I have heard of people being robbed in Rosarito... by Police officers !!!.... Yes... you heard that right... by Police officers ! They were taken to am ATM and handed over what they withdrew. Amazing....... At least Mexifornia is safer

Mexico is far safer to live than most of the US. In the US they steal right in front of your face with the gas prices. I'm an American living fulltime in Mexico and my wife and I have never felt safer.
If you google it you will find world crime stats and the US out ranks Mexico in Assualts and violent crimes. Nearly 700 murders in Los Angeles county last year alone, that's only one county.
