Texas A&M at #1 Oklahoma - 2003 - Football

Don't feel to bad for A&M, they beat Baylor 73-10, the week prior. Complete highlights of the Sooners humiliation of the Aggies on a historic day in Norman. Oklahoma had a 77-0 lead on Texas A&M late in the 3rd quarter. Could have made it 84-0, but Bob Stoops told Donta Hickson to simply fall down after getting 3 handoffs after 1st and goal or hell's wrath would be brought down on him. In 2003, the Sooners defeated three Big 12 South Division opponents -- Texas, Oklahoma State and A&M -- by a combined score of 194-22.

@MrGreenBandAid - Auburn went over 60 twice in '10, and scored 1/2 hundred in majority of games. '08 Gators beat Citadel 70-19 and Kentucky 63-5. When SEC teams have explosive passing offense, they run up scores too.

Only an idiot would (ie Lupica) would complain about running up scores in first half. OU went up 49-0 in first half. 3rd quarter was backups running the ball to 70-0.  Then defense scored, 77-0. 4th quarter was backups intentionally diving into dirt to avoid scoring more.

I have to ask; why run up the score? 73-10 is ridiculous in almost every capacity. This game is also uncalled for. You should beat your opponent with class and respect. The last 4 or 5 teams to win the national championship are not known to do this. I do understand if your 3rd and 4th string can score as easily as your 1st. BUT, that doesn't excuse 77 points. OU has done this BS to gain a championship spot often, and then get beat by an SEC team anyways. What's the point?

Awesome game. This is the first time I remember that ABC cut away from a game because it was such a blowout.

@soonerfan4ever14 It's mike stoop's fault for OU losing those games. If he wouldn't have left for the crappy Arizona head coaching job, he would have kept the devastating defense going and the overall team moral would have been up. He should have stayed at OU and waited for a better coaching job.

Franchione deserved this after ditching Alabama like he did. I remember watching this game as a Tide fan hoping Oklahoma would beat the shit outta them and they obviously did.. I heard that the band played the Alabama fight song after the game. Wish Alabama and Oklahoma could start playing each other again. Oklahoma has some great fans that arent complete assholes like other schools

I noticed in your description, you mentioned the combined scores against A&M, Texas, and OSU, but don't forget we beat the hell out of the rest of the Big 12 south too. We hung 41 on Baylor and 56 on Tech. 2003 was by far the best well-rounded team Stoops has ever had. Too bad they just fell apart at the end.

Could have been 84-0? Are you kidding? It could have been 101-0. OU drove inside the A&M 10 at least twice in the early 4th quarter and Stoops refused to let them score. The scrubs of the scrubs were driving late, and could have scored. Sooners easily left 21-28 points on the field, and that's being kind. There was one first-half drive where OU scored THREE TIMES, but the first two were called back on penalty. I think they actually drove something like 100 yards on that drive....A&M was a joke.
