@ronm Thanks for all the info! I agree with you on the "weight issue" I think both your boerboels are the perfect size. As I search for a breeder I've been noticing many of their males in that 160-200Lb range. I'm not sure how Healthy a dog of 200lbs on a compact boerboel frame can actually be? Again,Thanks for the info & great looking dogs!

a giant schnauzer x bull mastiff tried to court with my border collie bitch, she acted the same as this female boerboel pmsl. just as well they would have had odd looking pups

@agendor101 Well, I sort of see what you're saying, as in you see the stuff they wear as foo-foo disrespect, but there is no magic in this breed that is broken with stuff on them. Don't get me wrong, they're some of the toughest, smartest dogs I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with, but they wouldn't care if my kids put a dress on 'em. God help any sucker who may try to break into the house, though, no matter what they're wearing. :)

@agendor101 Um... Ya, thanks! LOL. I don't use the coats much any longer unless we're out in a deep freeze for a long period (but now that you've asked me so endearingly to stop I'm tempted to use it more ;) ) and I still think the kerchiefs look cool. PLUS they give the dogs something to tug on playfully when they wrestle besides ears, so ... ya, that'll be staying, too.

I looked at this again just now, and two things stand out:
1) How I over-reacted at her "LEAVE ME ALONE" which was totally well said and not over the top
2) How much communication is going on that I missed when I first recorded this.
They are now best of buddies, often wrestling, etc. although if she doesn't want to play, she still goes into this "FU!" mode on occasion. :)
They are from a couple of different breeders. The male is from Dopper Boerboels and the female is from Spitvuur. Most of the established South African breeders are pretty good at dealing with export issues and customers from other countries. While many speak Afrikaans as a first language, English typically is a well used second. There are some words and phrases that may make you wonder, "he can jump into a backie no problem" (backie = pickup) but otherwise all is pretty painless. :)

You have very nice looking Boerboel's! Are they both from the same breeder? and how tall & how much does your male weigh? Also, was there any issues with communication with the breeder in South Africa? Again, great looking dogs!!

@flip110119 Sorry, I replied above. I suck at the internets. :P :)

@flip110119 Oh, and sorry, as for height... I'm not sure, I'd have to measure, but they are both relatively compact dogs compared to some of the taller, more English Mastiff-y style dogs that are becoming popular. They are both bundles of muscle, though, and weigh around 120-130lbs. Other breeders often boast of 160-200lb dogs, and that's not at all the type of dog I would call a "traditional" Boerboel, in my humble opinion.
