Not a clone because a mac works. Dell is shiny junk that lights up. Don't let the outside fool you. Most time you get 3 months tops before something plays out. Dell straight jacks customers for a nice bundle of cash. What the end users get is a box of metal and plastic. This is a public service announcement. Wish someone had warned me before their tech support ran out the clock so I couldn't return it.

why does everyone compare it to the macbook, it fails. Mac is a joke.

I hate the keyboard design on both the xps and the mbp.only real complaint from me
i prefer the older laptop keyboards with proper arrow key and taking up full width of laptop

@upiluften ok, you found one model (Razor Blade) but it only shows one company and one model, not a global trend. Look at netbooks like Acer One, HP Mini - if I caught the one responsible for designing silly small arrows, I would force him to use it at least few hours a day and ask him about his concept. Price is not a problem for me, so I would buy better netbook (and) notebook but even "Better ones" like Fujitsu-Siemens, now also design those "pseudo arrows". I don't see any model worth buying

@marxjo The "Razor Blade" has quite an interesting keyboard.. it seems as though generally speaking, laptops have evolved to a point where it's become "form over function." Those silly "Ultrabooks" and the "MacBook Air" are pointless. Ultra? What's so "Ultra" about 128GB SSD, minimal ram, etc.? At least Apple put in the "Air" to denote just how little one should expect from it!
And my MacBook Pro.. it has sharp edges. WHY? Because it looks nice.

@upiluften Honestly, laptop keyboard is not created even for gamers. after one hour you get tired and willing to connect external keyboard, and such Dell Alienware is....something I don't understand. I don't case lap has i5, i7 or 16 GB RAM if I only want to develop a little and write few emails. Please note that all previous Fujitsu-Siemens, Dells Toshiba laptops I owned, had real keyboard where I could write even bigger programs and Pentium M was far sufficent for those tasks.

@upiluften ...so in the end, companies sell less for bigger price, because users don't even want to replace their unsinkable Core2Duo machines. Everything in newer net/notebooks is worse that few years ago, except CPU, ram and disk (if ssd). Whats really important in these machines is good keyboard and screen display. now it looks as if you couldn't buy gas powered car because....there are only electric ones.

@SenorCajones Sincer few months, I'm searching for replacement of my D630 but with no success. I hate new Dells and perceive them as poor china boxes with toxic plastic :) If you were to buy some model now, what would that be as a D830 replacement ?
-
@SenorCajones hahaha...wow...!
8.5 out of 10? ... no This is far better than the macbook pro. 11/10

@marxjo I agree. Keyboard, screen, and UI (intuitiveness particularly) is what's important. After all, most business professionals could care less if their Notebook/Macbook can play Call of Duty 3, or whatever. All they need is Excel.. Word.. Mail.
