Bob Weigel of sounddoctorin.com here. I get so sick of seeing this. As I note there are some people who are possibly legitimately confused. They were told being a Christian meant to go to a particular building once a week. They stopped doing that and so now they are not a Christian anymore.

However his isn't what Jesus said was involved in following him. And this isn't what Peter answered the crowd in Acts 2 when they asked 'what then must we do to be saved?'. Peter concisely said to repent and be immersed into the name (which meant Character to that audience!) of Yeshua (Jesus).

So there we have it. That's the definition right? I mean do you THINK that the historical Yeshua would say "oh sure that guy is following me because he does what some guy in a suit says to do"?? Or for that matter some guy in a Tarzan outfit. I don't care what he's wearing. But the point is being a Christian is understood to mean a true follower of Christ. If it's not that then what is it? Someone who is born into a family that claims to be Christian? But what if the person divorces themself from everything Jesus was about? That shames the name of Jesus! And for what purpose? For the foolish superstitious belief that because a parent claims to be something that this passes on to their children? What kind of ignoramus would believe something like that?

I think we all would agree that a Christian is indeed a person who truly follows the teaching of Yeshua. NOT a person who wants to appear legitimate around Christians so that they can sell insurance to them or get a contract to build a building for them. Or whatever.

And certainly not a person who simply attends a particular socio-religious gathering. Any more than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger as the late Keith Green put it. Actually I'm afraid there is even a level more of alienation in that comparison than Keith fully realized but oh well.

This is the first in the stupid atheist tricks. After 22 years on the internet trying to reason with people I've seen some funny arguments. PLEASE understand, I'm not making fun of the mentally deficient here. When I say "Stuppppiiiiddd" I'm talking about a deliberate act of ignorance. I'm talking about a choice to blind one's self to the truth or even to be peripherally aware of the truth but to deliberately deceive people and make them to believe a lie...perhaps hoping that when they get to hell they will have more company. I have no idea. I just know it's an amazing phenomena.

  • @sounddoctorin I agree with you completly but I have atheists tell me they had the "experiance" yet now deny Him and the only reason I've been given for that denial was " i got smart" or " I woke up". Silly, I know but how does one say " you really didn't ...." without sounding like a holier than thou??

  • @tnmusicman1 The one who is 'holier than' is the person who claims to be so ALL KNOWING that they know the experience someone else had to such an extent that they can say "I had the same one and it was fake". LOL! I mean talk about making one's self out to be GOD LIKE! Good grief! haha. That's the ultimate position of prideful foolishness. So I guess you just point out that logic and if they listen they do. If they want to hate you for speaking truth well..what's the point?

  • Christians really shouldn't be calling anyone else stupid.

  • if someone were to hand you a book saying "here are your set morals. here is your reward for following them and here is your punishment for not following them" i can see no situation where the person follows those rules with no thought of the reward or punishment. that is not being moral. that is following rules dictated to you. now if you believe in no punishment or reward and are still kind and decent to your fellow man then you are being moral. doing so to avoid hell or get to heaven is not.

  • @itsuyo211 Yes you are right about that. Are you inferring Christians do good things to "get into heaven"??

  • @deejayalemus I don't argue opinions. It's a waste of time. Jesus defined what a Christian is. LOGICALLY this state of being either DOES, or DOES NOT exist in truth. (From the perspective of one who hasn't potentially had some absolute validation given to them). According to Jesus' definition you aren't a Christian and never were because John 10 says "HEARING" his voice is one of the qualifiers. If you heard it you wouldn't be denying it now right? So it's pointless.

  • @sounddoctorin you are right about this conversation being baseless... I admit that I did not organize my thoughts very well or articulate my thought processes behind my conclusions, mainly because I`d be typing hefty paragraphs and wasting time with dealing with the theistic POV (tedious in its own right). what the ***k are 'hand waving claims' and how does one `'perform logic`' exactly... thanks for letting me know we were having a logical debate, because I had no illusion that we were.

  • @deejayalemus This whole conversation is just baseless. You start it out making hand waving claims about some 'logic' you performed. Listen. The reason I basically kick arse and you eat grass in the field of logical debate, is that I come forth with actual reasoning. I say WHAT I find to be illogical. I post the logical processes! IN ENTIRETY! I don't leave people guessing. THE *knowledge* I'm talking about only comes from having an actual relationship. All else is meaningless guessing

  • @sounddoctorin So, you want me to admit that I don't know anything about spirituality? As an abstract concept I have some idea of what it means to theists, but I don't buy it any more than the concept of a soul. You can claim to know more than me on the subject, doesn't mean that your supposed authority on the subject is true. Learning about the Council of Nicaea taught me a lot about the creation of the Bible, and solidified my belief that it was man made from the get go.

  • @deejayalemus ? No I didn't. I made it to challenge people who are atheists claiming that they used to be Christians. I'm telling them that when they ADMIT not believing that there is anything spiritual, that this gives them exactly ZERO data by which to judge whether someone else might/might not know that there IS something spiritual going on and so on. ANd then I challenge people of course to look at the credibility of the bible and seek God and he will lead them to the truth.

  • @sounddoctorin As you made your video to preach to the converted or to reign in the lost sheep, I understand that I am not your target audience. My comments were made out of passing interest, and your point of view is one I'm familiar with. We can agree to disagree, and I'm cool with that.

  • @deejayalemus Seek the truth and you WILL find it. That's what this whole video is about really. it's to call people to recognize that they've been distracted from God's still-small voice and have listened to the clutter people have put in front of them. When people say "I used to be a CHristian", they always mean "I used to kiss up to some system of man". It never means they experienced a real relationship with God and God said "I really don't exist.." POOF! LOL.
