@TaleTN Oh I see, I saw this comment a little too late though. My rat had be put down due to a chest tumor. That was in fact the reason behind her breathing troubles I think. At least that's what the vet said it probably was. : ( Thanks for the response.

The therapy is indeed not stuitable for giving antibiotics, because you can't control the exact dose a rat would inhale. Also, the therapy should only be applied after consulting a vet.
BTW, there's a big difference between hot steam and vapor from a nebuliser. For starters the vapor is room-temperature, and secondly it's more or less sterile, while steam probably holds a lot of bacteria.
Yes, I'm a regular at a couple of Dutch forums, and I sometimes visit Fancy-Rats UK and The Rat Shack.

thanks. when my rats get a bit sneezy I put them in the carry cage on the bathroom floor when I have a hot shower. The steam seems to help them. I would never use it in replace of ABs though. BTW Do you belong to any rat forums?
Thank you so much for this video. It shows me how easy it is. Now I'll try it on my rat that has only one lung functioning. Our vet recomended this at home.

I need to you use your method on my rat. O : I usually just sit with her in the bathroom with the shower running on hot and shut all the doors to keep the steam inside.

@Takaiboshi I would recommend not doing that anymore, because in general hot steam is actually bad for rats (and people) with respiratory problems.

@TaleTN It really isn't hot steam, but cool steam mixed with medicine. It's highly recommended for animals (especially rats) with respiratory illnesses.

@StealthyRose Thanks for the info. Yes, I know, and I have already explained this a couple of times here (see my other comments).
