Chris Matthews Grills Lawrence Wilkerson on Hardball

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson (former chief of staff to Colin Powell) has been making the talk show rounds as an act of contrition for the part he played convincing the nation to go to war in Iraq. Chris Matthews hits him pretty hard with his questions to which Wilkerson answers what he can about how former Sec of State Colin Powell was mislead into using faulty information in his speech to the UN prior to the invasion.

The American media are straight up cowards! They are falling all over themselves now, trying to find out how the American people got conned into a totally bullshit war. Not one of these media "bigshots" raised doubts, or did research, or ASKED ANY TOUGH QUESTIONS, of any real consequence while the march to war was going on. This is true. If Mr Powell would have had the same courage in real time, he might have helped avert a bloody and expensive war. This is a good man who lost his courage at the most crucial moment. I forgive him and I think America does. I don't think he will ever forgive himself.
