This is a short video of my 2006 Ford Fusion which will be used for storm spotting this year. The car is equipt with several LED lights and reflective tape for road safety during storm spotting. It will also have 2-way communications with Emergency Management Services and the National Weather Service in Cleveland. It also has a laptop computer for monitoring weather conditions with live feed radar. Skywarn Spotters are the eyes of the National Weather Service to alert the community from dangerous weather conditions. If you are interested in joining check out your local chapter. Go to www.skywarn.com for more information.

  • Where in the vehicle did you install your switch panel? Moving a strobe power unit from a taurus to ford fusion and don't see much accessible space.

  • @brotherdav3

Boy, you're not kidding! The only place I found to mount all the switches are in the top dash compartment. The strobe module is mount under the rear deck. Good luck on that!

  • That thing is sweet. Couple questions. Out of curiosity what is your handicap (I know not all would stop from storm chasing) and is it legal to have those flashing lights in Ohio?

  • @Blb9556

Thanks for the comment. I was involved in a car wreck a while back and have permanent spinal injuries, but it doesn't stop me from followiing one of my passions, the weather. The colors are leagal, but they still must be used only in a responsible way, and only when revelant. I rarely use them unless it's to assist first responders, or any alerts to haszzardous situations, like a tree in the roadway or flash floodings. Check out Xtreme Storm Chasers on Facebook. Thanks!

  • @fredachinnie64 so what colors do you suggest?

  • @Blb9556

Usually, amber lights are not an issue so long they are used responsibly. I've even seen some chase vehicles with green but that color will soon be used by ODOT trucks and Mall Security Vehicles, so that option may not a good one. Mine are amber & white which provide plenty of warning.

Maybe a good church can save you! Would you tell that to a returning soldier who might just be in one?? Have a Blessed Day!

  • So a dude in a wheelchair is going to come save me?

  • @DAN4279

I did. It was constantly receiving radio calls from just about every community near the lake shore. Actually, there are still some 2000 homes with out power in some of the lake shore communities. We have more severe weather forcast for tomorrow. Sounds like Deja Vue!!

  • @DAN4279

The scanner is a Uniden SC230 hand held. The CB is a Cobra w/ weather band
