You really do want to put rust remover on these old console screws. I've got an Xbox 360 controller that I've had for 2 years and it's got crap built up in the screws already.

I'm curious because you mentioned it, have you ever tried wet-sanding the lens with a fine grit and using some of that stuff they use for eyeglasses to fill in scratches? I wonder if that would help restore some functionality or just scatter the light.

@GuitarAudiologist Hmm... that may just do it. I'll test the process on some plexiglass first since it's the same acrylic material to see if it goes clear.
