It should be called "I Hate My Headset"

Here's the poem:
The two stand very still
high on the mountain of filth.
The wind cannot block the screams
of the people below
who see only garbage piled to the heights.
A mother cries out, unaware she is looking
at her used dishtowels, and old jewelry.
A boy whimpers
and kicks the old newspapers that have scattered.
One more kick,
and he could find his rusted bicycle.
The man with no home or mind
to speak or think of
clings to the filth like a lost dream.
There, just above his shoulder,
a winning lottery ticket.
The two stand very still
high on the mountain of filth.
As the sun rises, the stench follows suit
overwhelming those who favor their pulse.
A small fire catches on a lower corner.
The little girl cries her heart out.
Gathering tears in one hand,
she tries to throw them on the fire.
This is the only effort made out of the crowd.
The old couple shake their fists
at the god who never appeared.
The flock of young girls take one look,
and walk away,
too bored to be concerned.
The two stand very still,
high on the mountain of filth,
and share a single thought:
We have a long way to go.

  • The poem is wonderful. I really love the part about the lottery ticket. It's the way you put it... beautiful. It's something I'd never thought about before... legendary stuff.

  • Holy crappers... HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS?!

    Lovely, doll. Verily.

  • Want to become a vampire?

  • Sorry... Your sound is improving in the wrong direction.

  • I turned the volume ALL THE WAY UP and read the poem in the sidebar. :p

  • I'm glad you could hear it. I was thinking it's Jessi's audio again, but I guess it is my problem this time.

  • I keep looping this over and over and I am still amazed. Great job, honey.

  • I adore you so much. This is bloody fantastic! :)

    I'm smiling like an idiot.
