I have a few videos up: All About DAISY, and C-1 Cassette Book Machine, for those who wish to gain better background knowledge on what this video is talking about. Due to a hardware defect, I had to send back my PlexTalk Pocket PTP1 DAISY Player/recorder. I have no facility from which to play my books now, as the books are in a proprietary format, that only these players can read. I have put in a request to the National Library Service for the Blind (NLS) to obtain a new flash cartridge-based digital book player. This will serve as a backup and also serve in situations where I want, or need, to do lengthy recordings on the PTP1. For more information on the NLS Cartridge Player, look up Bluetech7753's videos on the player. Note that the one I intend to recieve, if the NLS sends me one, is going to be a more advanced unit with a few extra keys on the top. I also briefly explain the NLS' service in this video.

  • My digital audio player from the library has advanced controllers. I can see some too. I have been downloading books. I have been connecting the cartage for the player like the one you show into a usb cable with a female connector for usb thumb drives on the side that the the cartage goes into, to play the book, not download it. Not everything it available so I use 4 track tapes to this day. Star Trek is cool. I can use thumb drives with NLS DTBP... WINDOWS! WOW SHIT! LOL! Are you serious?! OMG!

  • @wheelieblind Thumb drives should work, but not memory card readers - the player lacks the power to support them - especially the 6 in 1 deals.

  • What went wrong with your PlexTalk Pocket? My Victor Reader Stream broke 2 days ago, the speaker stopped working for the second time, I've sent it back to HumanWare Australia for repairs, now, like you I can't play my DAISY books because the PTN1 PRO I have only plays CD's, and my VoiceNote won't recognise my 32 GB SDHC card, so all I can do now is wait for my Sream to be repaired.

  • I'm assuming defective power supply, because it would shut off by itself unexpectedly, even at high battery levels. I'm about to update this. I've recorded a video & will upload it in a few minutes.

  • I'm getting one of theese for free from the cleveland library.

  • @jls1114 Did you buy your Stream, or do NLS supply them on loan. I know nothing about NLS because I live in Australia, the Vision Australia Library have the Stream available for loan, but I bought mine 2 years ago, I have a PlexTalk PTN1 PRO on loan from the library, I'm thinking of sending it back because I heardly ever use it now.

  • This is a pretty good player it does have very good sound quallity. I also found out that this player can also play mp3 files so you can load music onto a flash drive and listen to it just like an ipod onlythis player can give much more battery life. I would like the more advanced play also but this is waht they sent me I don't know if my local NLS carries the other player I should call and find out.

  • its cool its free gut aside from that i would not trade in my stream over it , there is a i hate the setup of it, i hate that is works by mianly book cartridges. there a ot i don't like about it the stream is more of a complete deal. if u really don'thave the money and need a daisy player thats cool.

  • AND...

    one is FREE!

    I'm still waiting for mine???
