I can not beleive it! I had a mail from Michel Jaspar, the Black Blood's producer. It was a great feeling. Let's read it together:

I am the one who produced the band Black Blood and give them that name (In fact it is my mother who found that name at that time in 1975). I was borned in Congo (Zaïre). I met Steve Banda Kalenga (the main singer) in Lubumbashi and invited him to come over in Brussels. He went to join a group based in Spain (including the singer, Carlos Sarayeva who sings AIE A Mwana.) I moved all the band from Spain to Brussels as I wanted to create an original new type of music in Europe. I sept all the little money I had at that time. As you can see on the record (and registration at the SABAM or SACEM) I made the arrangement for those songs and I am the author of the song Marie Therèse too. I produced the band myself organising shows in night clubs then got introduced via a old friend of mine (Ralph Benatar) to Jean Kluger who accept to made a first record, yes with Marie Therese then with AIE A MWANA. This last one I made the arrangement from an old japanees song made by Daniel Vangarde: AIE A OA. Back to aviation (I was flying as airline pilot) I stop producing the band and Jean kluger with Ralph started producing Chicano.
Thanks for publishing it on YOUTUBE.

  • I can't thank you enough for posting these. My uncle used to have a tape of Black Blood, when we moved to the US in 1984 I took this tape with me. A year later it was returned to Tehran and subsequently lost. I have searched for these guys since the 90s and more recently on iTunes. Your post is my first ever reuniting with them! Also it is super cool that the producer tracked you down and emailed you. Please post more if you have any.
