Yes, many dialects. For foreigners learning Mandarin, it is often hard to know if the trouble we have understanding some spoken 'Chinese', is either because we don't know the Mandarin words or because someone is speaking with a dialect.
That is why it would be very helpful if Benny & his gang, made a list of Mandarin dialect movies that would be good for watching/listening/studying. And if those movies had pinyin subtitles, it would be even easier to study.

sure, for me, i also think that the english is difficult too. pardon me if i get anything wrong in english sentence.
about these dialects, it's often non-mandarin, because some of the translator don't know this kind of dialects ,hehe, like me , i just know Cantonse. so you don't blame there's non-mandarin.
