Ever wonder if The Ten Commandments were truly the divinely-inspired, foundational rules for our lives...or incomplete, semi-irrelevant rip-offs from the holy books of other cultures? We explore it (with style!).
Killing is wrong. In any circumstances. Nazzis were also people who were misled. Home mugging - you can shit the guy off with a baseball bat or with a gas gun. There are other ways to protect yourself. Like shooting in the legs, or the shoulders...
In any case killing is wrong because you take someone's life that you didn't give.
God must be one paranoid, crazy mother fucker! First he claims that there is only one god and he is it, then he gives mankind 10 commandments and the first 4 are about not worshiping the other gods that don't exist.
@ridered300 Yes, we homo sapiens have been on earth for around 150,000 years, so god waits for 147,000 years with folded arms then thinks, well I cannot sit idly by any longer I better do something and tell mankind it is wrong to murder, rape and steal. I know I will allow my only son to be terribly tortured and killed so that I can forgive everyone. If god is so wise, why did he not just forgive?
@Dodec84 The Romans and indeed the ancient Greeks were not influenced by the Jewish religion. There is no reliable historical evidence that Moses ever existed and the story of him going up Mt Sinai is fictitious as are all the other stories of the Bible. I love reading fantasy but I prefer Lord of The Rings, more elves and dragons.
I wonder why slavery and rape is not mentioned in the Decalogue. I would have thought they were more heinous than adultery. Adultery is hurtful, especially to the partner who has been wronged but it is not as wicked as the two aforementioned. Perhaps it is because the top ten were written by old men who were religious fanatics and sexually repressed.l
What I always wonder is if the ten commandments were so important, why did God wait so long to give them to humans? Why not give them to Adam & Eve? Derp.

@roac7777 Well put, it seems even God can fall asleep on the job.

@roac7777 Well, not all stories. The Babylonian exile for example really happened.

"Roman cultures"? Romans appeared after the Ten Commandments were written down?
