Backridge Road, as I understand it, is the location of the original settlers of Sabine Pass, arriving in 1820-30s, and fought in the Civil War there. They included families such as Courts, Gentz, Johnsons, my own anscestors, as well as other families including, Garners, McGaffeys, McCalls and many others. Devastating hurricanes are part of what made those settlers choose to eventually leave and move more inland to Port Arthur, Port Neches, Groves, and Beaumont. Currenly, Sabine Pass was hard hit by Hurricane Ike in 2008, as well as Hurricane Rita in 2005. the vegetation has clearly not yet fully recovered. My pictures from Sabine Pass are posted in Picasa here: http://picasaweb.google.com/lumoto1/SabinePassTexas#

genre: Easy Listening The road intersects with Dowling Road/So. 8th Street at Keith Lake, runs south for a ways and then dead-ends. This little video is traveling north, returning to the main highway, so you are seeing the north side of the road.
Sabine Pass was hard hit by Hurricane Ike in 2008. Vegetation is coming back, but the signs of the devastation are still there.
Apologies for the sloping horizon... :(
