This is how the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens (Canon mount) sounds as it moves back and forth across its focus range (from MFD to infinity).

  • I got one o'them! When I'm done taking photographs, I put the lens cap on, walk up behind people with the shutter pressed half-way and recite Terminator quotes in a dodgy Arnie voice.

  • Their pretty fast, im not sure its as fast as the Canon's USM or Nikons focusing but its still fast enough for many typical shots. Its extremely sharp but the only bad thing is the the distortion at 17 is pretty bad, not the best but if you have time to photoshop all your wide angle then its fine, but me I dont have time so not the most ideal lens at 17mm.

  • Is it a A16NII (with built in motor) series or the older version?

  • now that is a noisy piece of shit!

  • one of the advantages of having noisy AF is when putting it on AI servo and panning around and saying terminator quotes.

  • You now have 15 seconds to comply...

  • @newagent hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • I have one of those. It's a really sharp lens.

In all day situations nobody cares about that noise. If you need more speed in AF (for what ever) you have to buy the canon lens ( as canon user) but that lens is extremly expensive for that bit more of advantage

  • ROFL, that made me laugh.

  • that is true but id rather not have a winding lens, especially if im not the main photographer
