Do you still have the 1958 RCA? My 86 year old Great Aunt has that exact same set and boy does it sound nice!! Do you have any other vids of it? I hope to be able to see it better, its such a beautiful set!

Those portacolor sets also work great as space heaters! Great collection otherwise.

yes the peacocks are done and the wood fork and spoon look mint.

My Great Aunt has the very same 1958 RCA console radio phono that you showed in this video. Her and my great uncle bought it when they got married in the 50s. I was always impressed with the way it looks, and preforms. To be honest I think it had to be one of RCA's finest!!!

There are indeed two MPD buildings here in owensboro. I always thought they made military parts.
1977 Portacolor with tubes? Are you sure about that?

Yes, I am 100% sure! the date code definitely is 1977. If you search google for "portacolor" there is a web site which talks about them. This site says that there were tube type portacolors made up until 1980.

I was also wondering what to do about a fan that has recently become very, very slow. It's a Lakewood oscillating table fan and it's only two years old, but a few nights ago I turned it on and the blade turned very slowly and never got up to normal speed. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have not had good luck in repairing modern fans...they often seem to have problems with the bearings seizing. You might try lubricating the front shaft with Zoom Spout oil and if possible disassembling and cleaning the motor and applying Zoom Spout oil to both the front and rear shafts and bearings but too often I still have had trouble with modern fan motors even after doing this.

Hello retrochad! Those GEtubes were made in Owensboro kentucky! I live there! I think there is an old GE Building somewhere here but it has been converted to something else!

I think the old GE factory is now called "MPD". They make magnetrons and other ceramic microwave tubes...they continued making glass tubes with the old GE equipment through 1992. Some of the last glass tubes made were 6550's with a date code of 1992 which were used in Leslie organ amplifiers.
