This triple barrel Chinese Handgonne Pole Cannon is the only replica of its kind is taken after it's 14th century ancestor. Hand-crafted by yours truly, It is made from a $4 Home Depot Shovel handle, 3 1' long 1" diameter galvanized pipe, with plasma cut bindings similar to the two originals in existence.

It fires Three 100 caliber balls, measuring 1 inch in diameter via black powder set from a very powerful musket percussion cap.

  • @onaitsabes21 Quick question: would you say that it was fired by lighting a line, like one would expect of a "typical" cannon, or a firework? I know you said you modified it to accept percussion caps.

  • @Fantafaust I think thats possible that most pole cannons were done by lit fuse, but the original design had some sort of percussion cap... maybe similar to todays musket design... Not sure though...

  • I don't understand what did they put in the percussion caps in the 14th century... And if they had such explosive, why did muskets with percussion caps appear only in the 18th century?

  • @pyrosimple Not Sure, I'm still trying to figure that out myself...

  • What is the rate of fire?

  • 3 per... hmm as fast as you can load black powder...haha

  • and metal fabricators are replica builders, because this dude who says HE BUILT THIS!!did not!!guess who did?I did...you shouldn't take credit for other peoples craftsmanship.yes it was your idea, but what did you do ?paint it,and screw in the igniters.you should change the intro message to:this is the only Chinese pole cannon replica that i paid to have made in pensacola....ya DOUCHE!!!

  • The Chinese are the true inventors of firearms, rockets, explosives, and cannons.

  • Sorry but the music ruined this. Would have prefered to hear the cannon. No offence

  • DARN! I would have liked to have heard the cannon itself, instead of the "music" you had on.

  • @pyrosimple percussion caps only existed in the early 19th century....this would be a boar gun, used through europe and china until 20th century to kill boars.... the real early chinese ones used incense to be fired

  • The first precission cap was invented by a Scotsman around 1805, but prefected and put into wide use during 1830's to 1840's...Obviously there were no precussion caps during the 15th century...Nice project though...

  • @pyrosimple yeah, I know chinese were far ahead with first having and applying black powder, but the antique I saw tested had what appeared to be the sameif not just about exact design. My guess is they might have used some kind of flint or something.
