wow! i pllan to buy the Bezzera 99s cause im european. Thats a lot of work you have to do! clean the brew unit from the fat is ok but i guess you can clean the portafilter after every espresso by holding it under the tap and no espresso can drying in the surface anf you save a lot of work with that brush for example.

Is it true it's good to backflush with water at the end of everyday and do what your doing every 2 weeks or so??

That looks normal, same as the junk that my machines spew during a backflush. I'd go over to that house for a shot of espresso knowing that this person keeps up with cleaning and maintenance.
