As young people growing up in Sacramento, we spent a ton of weekends driving to and from San Francisco. For a long time, we'd always head straight for Amoeba. This meant taking the Fell Street Off-Ramp. We always loved how it wound around buildings, up and over rooftops, through the trees, etc. Made us feel like Batman. When word came that it was coming down, we knew we had to take one last ride on our favorite off-ramp. We cut it close though, flying off that thing with literally a few hours left before its closure and subsequent demolition.
cool man really cool. .

The passenger summed it up pretty well.. thank god that eye-sore and pollution point is torn down. Now, if only we could get the rest of the Central Freeway down...

So strange to realize that the highway used to go straight to Fell! Signed, a relatively new Hayes Valley resident

Cool Vid! I miss the way the highway used to be in San Francisco. My favorite was where 101 went all the way to the foot of Broadway. The 89' earthquake ruined it. I actually filmed this same Fell exit but in 92'. Some day I'll post it up on youtube along with all the other drives that I video taped in San Francisco. And Ameoba is still there. Every so often I'll go there to look for something special. Parking isn't good though.

I grew up in Berkeley, now life on the east coast. Sigh. I drove across the Bay Bridge to Fell St. a lot -- thanks for preserving a view of the City that's gone now.

I often get that same feeling here in Montréal as my own «corner stores» are being teared down... Salut!
