The original c. 1993 version. You Are Not Alone" was a hit single presented by R&B singer-songwriter R Kelly to Michael Jackson in 1995 and included in the album History. The single was the first ever to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, but only remained there for one week.

SABAM, Belgian right society however confirmed in 1995 that the theme is original composed in 1993 by Eddy & Danny VAN PASSEL, veteran Belgian songwriters, producers and music publishers.

Listen to the demo of the original c. 1993 composition (entitled "If we can start all over") by the Belgian composers. I've downloaded the conclusions of SABAM and enclosed them in this movie.

In 2007 the Court of Appeal in Brussels made a general conclusion: "The general conclusion is worded then as follows: the composition You are not alone has to be considered to be an imitation of If we can start all over."

Europe: the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters: For the purposes of the free movement of judgments, judgments given in a Member State bound by this Regulation should be recognised and enforced in another Member State bound by this Regulation, even if the judgment debtor is domiciled in a third State.
