  • hi mark please can u help me if i have 5 speed light and i'm planning to buy pocketwizard miniTT1 and FLEXTT5 can i use my 5 speed light even i have 1 flexTT5? hoping for your responds to me. thanks:)

  • @Jez2008UK Only reason you would switch systems is because SU 800 is infrared so if you shoot outside in direct sunlight for example it might not fire because it can't "see" the signal. Where as PW is radio triggered. Hope that helped- seeing as you never got a reply after 7 months and I just clicked this cause I'm bored thought you'd like to know.

  • Erics1959: I like to shoot wildlife. I just bought this system to my D700. Prelimunary for taking picture of nocturnal wildlife like wildboard, fox etc. in interesting creative ligthing. This would not be possible for me without this pocketwizard. By all means.. I´ve not done this just yet, but during 2011 I will. So it is also for creative use by us who tries to get those not seen-before pictures.

  • High speed sync is way less powerful than native speed sync. What's the use if you only have max a couple of meters when used straight on without any light modifiers? I tried it with other systems - it doesn't work on big subjects. Manual rules, so far the fastest one can go with DSLR's is 1/250 and some rare examples 1/500 of a sec before you start loosing flash power. Leaf shutters of Hasselblad lems shutter mechanisms allow crazy high speed sync with full power because of their design.

  • Great video.

Please can you confirm whether this set up will give me the same control as using a Nikon SU-800 ??

And if I place one of these on my D700, and one on my Nikon SB900, will my flashmeter with intergrated PW (the Sekonic L-758DR) trigger the flash in order to get a reading ??

I'm thinking of returning my SU800 for a refund so that I can get this setup instead.

    Thanks.

  • This is my uncle! Love you Mark!

  • Is there a technical reason why Pocketwizards are not available for Nikon yet?

  • Oh to be able to use high speed sync without line of sight!

  • Well maybe some day I might find myself needing to fire all 26 of my softboxes from a 1/4 mile distance. Then I'll probably have to invest in a 800 mm lens so I can get my subject to fill the frame. iTTL only exposes for the brightest subject detected by the sensor in the center weighted area, thats why most pro's shoot strobe manual . iTTL is great for paparazzi's . Over engineered , over priced .

  • @kwanyx I'm sure Mark would've if the sun was out. :)
