@thetubkins Well, Aretha was a trooper and stood in for him at the last minute. It was quite remarkable really - she sang the whole thing in the original tenor key. What a star. Did I like it musically? Not really, there were some awful bits in it, but at the same time it was very impressive.
I just don't think belt works for this. But I DO think this guy has one hell of a voice.

@colino72 Aw come on, why not? I mean, it's really different, and I imagine that you are an opera aficionado or a classical singer, but is it impossible to appreciate? Like when Aretha sang the same song in Pavarotti's place, did you like that?

@thetubkins I don't - get the larynx just a little lower, stick to the melody, eliminate the straight tone, and it'd be sounding right. He certainly has the chops for it, but sorry you just can't do opera in belt!

I love how he can belt the high notes as opposed to sounding legit. You go, David Phelps!
