In a rare concert moment, Jimmie Dale Gilmore forgets the lyric to the song and in typical JDG fashion, he finishes it in grand style. Jenny Scheinman on fiddle and Rob Gjersoe on guitar.

  • Needed this today, love his singing but also his humour in recovering at slight omission of last verse :-) Reliable rumour he is to be in UK later this year, hope so.

  • @Belj100 So, so glad you came back to watch this video. JDG is, indeed, a blessing to the world. I hope you're right that he is going to tour the UK this year. I will try to find out for sure as I'm in touch with his son, Colin. Meantime, enjoy the videos.

  • what if jimmie dale met lorelai and rory?

  • @olafbigandglad Okay, you got me... who are Lorelai and Rory? :)

  • spiritbear, of course it's strictly forbidden at the Sage, and I didn't record, but secretly hoped someone might and it might appear on you tube! It is such a shame that a wonderful performance is lost.

They were really amazing, and such a rare opportunity to see them here. I'm listening to the hills and valleys CD a lot which is like a momento of the evening, although they did other songs as well, but it's not the same as seeing them.

  • Well, i'll be at both the VA and NYC shows and if i can, will capture some video. So if you can't make it, be assured i will be trying my best. Also, do check out video by rocknloretta as she is in TX and has some great Flatlander video on youtube. Ciao for now, and thanks for supporting my videos!

  • One of my fave JDG songs. From another fan in Australia.

  • yeah, he's wonderful :) thanks for this cool post~

Last & only time I was lucky enough to catch him live was in the verrry early '90s, at Tipitina's (in N.O., LA.). He always has amazing musicians in his band, too, doesn't he?

  • If you've seen Jimmie as many times as I have, you know it ain't rare... Stoner.

  • I VHS taped JImmie singing this on Waylon's TV program (on PBS I think), still have it safely tucked away. God he was so much younger way back then! I need to play that program again, havn't watched it 3 years or so! Thanksis e for the posting of this version...

  • Good god that woman can bust the catgut! Sweet!

  • That would be great, you're lucky being able to get to both! I'm still hoping but depends what is going on here.

I have seen some great footage posted by rocknloretta - she has an advantage being in Texas! Thanks again.
