if no one was allowed to smoke in bars, statewide, people would still go to the same bars...they just would have to wait or go outside to smoke...i mean, just because someone isnt allowed to smoke in a bar isnt going to stop them from drinking there

Good post! I am from Germany and what I saw in LA during my last trip, was so ridiculous. There is such a hysteria about smoking. You Americans have the most air-polluting cars in the world, your CO2 emmissions are the highest in the world, so you practically have a great contribution to killing our planet, but you care of the pleasing habbits of other people. In Europe you areconsidered the most foolish people in the world, as media and corrupt politicians make believe you what ever they want

Why are people so worried about second hand smoke? I live in Los Angeles. Theres enough pollution in the air from cars alone, what do you think that does to people?

Damn ... thats alot of bodies. You would think that if that many ppl were dropping dead each year the the population would have a huge dip in numbers. Not to mention all the other ways ppl die .... why are there still millions and millions in this country.

@christina19840510 That is very true, people here are a bunch of fools. They call politicians liars, but then believe everything they say. Fortunately, there are some intelligent people left. lol

I think most people don't want to face the fact that they are causing their own diseases with their cars etc.. so prefer to blame smokers. It's easier then riding a bike !

@spazmaticactr09 There are tons and tons of studies that have been done for the longest time. Check them out. It's all simply lies, fraud, discrimination & murder. Murder because smoking has actually been shown to lessen chances of getting lung cancer and many other diseases.

Regarding public bans, I would rather see each bar, restaurant, etc have to declare their establishment as a smoking or non-smoking place, rather than city or state wide bans. Give the smokers a place to go. Give the non-smokers a place to go.  No 1/2 & 1/2 places. Then let the free market decide what will prevail. I think many places will voluntarily choose to ban because that's where the most business is. Especially restaurants.
