When the tank on his truck runs low, Jules Dervaes looks for a fillup. But unlike most of us, Jules doesn't stop at the corner gas station. In fact, he passes by all those high-price petrols. Instead, the former math teacher heads home to his garage where he fills 'er up with his homebrewed biodiesel.

  • Why doesn't he spend a few bucks for a pump? Pouring the fuel into the truck with a can is messy and inefficient.

  • Hi - Justin and Mr. Dervaes do have a pump attached to their 55 gallon can of homemade biodiesel (with nifty wheel attachments). As of the time of this filming, our driveway was torn up for permeable paving replacement and so it was nearly impossible to wheel the 55 gallon drum out to the car.

  • you guys need to sell your truck and get an electric car/truck, a lot less mucking around compared to making biodiesel and you can charge with your panels.

    Your family is an inspiration!

  • I've been hearing about people being arrested for stealing grease from fast food joints after hours because they wanted it to make biodiesel. Whereas noone would take the stuff before and they had to pay to dispose of it, they are now selling the stuff to companies that make it into biodiesel.

Waste grease is becomiong a commodity with more people becoming aware of the situation with oil and how it's only going to get worse.
