Piechota graduated from architecture school, but his first job was as a carpenter on the Price Residence, designed by pioneer architect, Bart Prince. Next, he worked with renowned architect Mickey Muennig on the Post Ranch Inn, the iconic back-to-earth lodge in Big Sur. The experience of living in a VW bus and working for Muennig was a seminal one, giving him an appreciation for nature, architecture, and craft.
