This is another song from The Clark Orchestra Roll No 513, Melodious Yuletide Favorites. It's number 4 on the roll, Marionette, a Novelty Fox Trot. Although there have been a number of 'Marionette' titled songs, I think this is a 1914 tune written by Felix Arndt. It's peppy and entertaining, anyway.

  • This is DEFINITELY the Felix Arndt composition. I know because I play it!

I think this arrangement is adapted from Arndt's own handplayed QRS Autograph roll... I know because I have that, too! The tempo rubato is built-in to the roll, as you can probably tell.

I think this roll sounds best when pumped on a home player piano, with lots of dynamics. However, it still sounds very interesting here, and I had no idea it was ever released as a coin piano roll! (much less a "yuletide" roll!)
