This country tune was sung by Hank Williams in 1949. "Lost Highway", often assumed to have come from Hank's pen, was written by Leon Payne. Payne was a blind musician who worked out of Jerry Irby's nightclub in Houston and guested on the Hayride and the Opry. His original version had been released on the Nashville-based Bullet label in October 1948.

I was inspired to play "Lost Highway" by myself after listening to a version of the Irish rockband U2. They played it under the pseudonym 'The Dalton Brothers'.

  • what mics and recorder are you using you got a real good recording there you played the song great too

  • Thanks for the comment, Kevin! At the time of this recording (2 years ago now) I used two (condenser) microphones, one for the voice and one for the guitar which where connected via a mixer to the external mic input of my Sony camcorder. Usage of the built-in mic is not recommendable. By the way, I've found that the type of the mics is not very important.

  • A lot of thanks for the kind words and for taking the time and give feedback! ~ Karl

lot of pathos and feeling in that.

    my congrats...

  • @00murky I was 14 when I got into Hank. I'm 31 now, but one of the younger fans, still.

  • Wow, your accent threw me at first, but once I realized it was indeed an accent, I was really impressed! I love it!

  • By the way, I am from Malaysia and went for German classes for a while. I also record songs on You Tube. Check out my channel! I have a Hank tune and for some strange reason, my Elvis Presley Flaming Star cover is getting lots of attention from Germany! :)

  • wow! This is very nice! I really like your voice and your German accent! And I appreciate your no frills bass-strum country guitar style!
