then ban it shit no one asking the lao goverment to show it in laos. they love to ban stuff anyway so do what they do best and ban this movie. no one care if laos watching it or not. just like america didnt care if thai like anna and the king or not.
It is easy to say "It is just a movie", when you are the one not being poked fun of. But, I can almost guarantee you if the roles were reversed, the thais would not take it so light heartedly as to make remark such as "It is just a movie".

". Yes, it is a movie, but the movie as well as music industry have a responsibility to their viewers as to the type of messages they are conveying. If you mock a person or a nation (which in this movie it does because the soccer team symbolizes a nation) then expect negative responses in return. Example, did the King or the people of Thailand accepted the song "One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble" a song about thai prostitution sung by a westerner.
Was the message of the song well received by the people? I don't think so. Infact, the song fueled so much anger and embarrassment to the Thai people that the king/government banned the western artist from ever entering Thailand again as well as banning the song from ever being played in thailand again. One might ask, bann the artist? Bann the song? What for? It was "just a song".
The Lao government felt the same sentiment after viewing this movie, thus having to ban it from ever being released in Laos. They considered the movie as a mockery and insensitive to the nation because the Lao soccer team is a national team and they were depicted in the movie as being a joke. That is not the lasting image any nation would want people around the world to view their people as.
Just because other nations mock other nations doesn't make it right or is an example for anyone to follow. A mockery is what it is and it never makes anyone feel good when they are the victim. And for the entertainment industry, you do have responsibilities to your viewers. Art is beautiful and it needs to be expressed in an artistic manner, but not if it is going to be at the expense of others, especially other nations.
i hope you people share the same response to other lowly depicted cultures...
