Old trick.
I learned it from Ken Cook ImagingUSA 2004. Believe it or not as I walked around the floor Monte Zucker (rip) picked me as a model and he taught me the same lesson after the session.
LightingEssentials had the same lesson a couple years ago.

Good idea, but presumably as soon as you put a different modifier on that light, you need a different piece of string with new markers? :)
