hospitals/people with mental health issues. But you cant say Kim Noble is an outsider artist, just because shes suffers from a disorder. A bazillion professional artists suffer from disorders. Most of the people who inhabit her body created art intentionally for exhibitions or to be seen by other people, so she's just a normal professional artist like anyone else.

DID aside, I have to say I don't agree with using the term 'outsider art'. Just because the artist suffers from a disorder, does not really define them as being 'outsider artists'. She has made a career from being an artist/had exhibitions/made money from her work. Therefore she's not an outsider artist! 'Outsider Art' is a term for work of artistic merit which has been created by people who have no intention of having anyone see or buy their artwork. Yes, many outsider art is collected from

For me the part of DID that I find especially sad is that many personalities will always remember all those horrible traumatic events, but will never be given time or opportunity to sort through all those horrible feelings. They will forever be stuck in one place with the trauma always haunting them and defining their lives. You could say its a relief for the mind to forget trauma in this way, but I just cant imagine how frustrating it must be for the personalities that do remember to be stuck
