it had practically nothing in common with the old product, it's not even made of peanuts!
this was the day Vegemite was born.

So, what this commercial is saying is that, basically, Skippy is the like the Second Coming for peanut butter.

50 to 60 years ago people were introduced to peanut butter for the first time, parents discovered it had several drawbacks, it smelled bad, It gave people diarreha.

George Washington Carver invented nuclear fission, the modern day computer, and genetically engineered the peanut from a gazelle named "Bitch". He also invented the modern day peanut butter container from plastic which he created from fossil petroleum that he found leftover from the prehistoric era - after he wiped out the dinosaurs. He also had a huge dong, after he met my mom and inventing the space shuttle, here I am!!!!

Woah! This is awesome, I love vintage ads! I wish we had some of these screen shots in our Skippy video! :)

George Washington carver had nothing to do with peanut butter. A St. Louis doctor gave us peanut butters for a way for his patients to digest protein.

George Washington Carver wasn't mentioned because he didn't have anything to do with the invention of peanut butter.

George WAshinton Carver did not invent peanut butter. It was invented by an Australian named Edward Halsey. He invented it for the Sanitarium Health Food Company on May 29, 1899. Joseph L. Rosefield developed the modern version of peanut butter in 1922. He formed the Rosefield Packing Co. in 1932 and he began selling "Skippy" brand peanut butter in 1933. Previously Mr. Rosefield worked at Swift and Company, whose own "Peter Pan" brand peanut butter used rosefield's patented formula.
