  • Strong bells. Are they WABCO?

  • Yep, the entire crossing is all WABCO, My favorite brand... :)

  • And whats your point? FYI, the bell circuit there is wired through the -X- relay, through the mech. contact. Thats why the bell only rings when the crossing is activated, until the gate arms are horizontal. This is a good common sense practice, as there is no need for a bell to continue to sound when a train is blowing it's horn, and/or right there in front of you, and ringing while rising is unsafe, as a bell is a warning to clear the tracks. ...I am the maintainer in the video, by the way.

  • I knew a guy from Wyandotte who worked for the railroad. We called him blue dot. I also know that signal maintainer his name is Elton. Working hard I see. Good video 5*

  • Lets get ready to rummble!

  • @ER801 I like it better when the bells ring going down, then stop, then ring again goin up, thats just me tho

  • @robertgift Seems to me that the train horn would make plenty of noise to warn any "blind pedestrians", the crossing bells left ringing would be unnecessary, and would just aggrivate the neighbors when the crossing malfunctions. Intelligent crossing designers and installers know this as well.

  • Interetesting.

Would like to see a very closeup (detailed) view of the gate mechanism.

Since bells are consided a pedestrian warning, apparently for blind pedestrians, I am surprised that they do not ring continuously while the gates are down.

For example: If a train is stopped across the crossing and a blind person approaches.

But this practice certainly lessens bell wear. A bell was donated to me bell which needs readjustment after having rung so long.

  • why is it that the bells sounded when u lifted them up, but when they went up by them self it didnt make one noise?

  • did you tell my dad that csx is goin to start runninng thru vidalia

  • Yes I did have a nice Christmas I meant csx through vidalia I got an iPod for christmas how was your Christmas are you workin with GC today

  • did you work on that crossing aElton it sounds like you didnt is csx sopposivly to start comming through cordele
