Its all very admirable...but the reason why the original burned a whole in our collective consciousness is because it was THAT GOOD! Even to this day I prefer the Brain Wilson original...and Brian is still doing great things. granted, we are all older...but he still makes some great music..he is not just rehashing things. That needs to be respected.

@newyorktown But Mike is smart and bought the rights to the name. In Canada, we have a band, the guess who...guys that originally wrote American Woman. The "nobody bass player" bought the rights to the name even tho all he did was play bass. The lead singer and lead guitar player can't even say the name "the guess who". Thats the business for you

They shouldn't use the name beach boys any more.

The Beach Boys are with Al Jarine and Brian Wilson.

Mike and Bruce should have do the same as Brian and Al, use theire own names.

@golobos2 Sir, It's Randell Kirsch, formerly of Papa Doo Run Run, The Bel Air Bandits, & many,many other west coast groups. He's a class act, & IMHO, a far better fit--musically & personally, than was Adrian Baker.--who left the group when he & Mike had a falling out over just who's group it really was. Adrian is now with Papa Doo, & he does wonderfully--a good fit for him. --All that said, listen to Al's Lead, from the '72 Concert album; it's a masterpiece. Wolfsky9

Even without the Wilson's these Beach Boys are better than a cover band without Mike Love this group would be. Go hear them in concert I went last year not knowing what to expect after the horrible performances I've heard from Mike, Bruce in the past. Lets just say I got my moneys worth this band unlike past Beach Boy back up bands can play and sing the classic songs like the album they nailed the harmonies and arrangements!
