Hunter White was a college freshman at the University of Arizona when he was killed in a car accident in Mexico during Spring Break of 2001. Each Spring, Hunter's Runners is a 5k/Fun Run event that raises funds to support The Hunter White Health Advocacy Program at The University of Arizona. The main component to this university endeavor is a Spring Break emergency safety and preparedness program that is directed at incoming college students. This debuted on February 24, 2008, and will be held each year just prior to the popular student holiday. The goal of this customized program will be to help educate and prepare college students for the safe enjoyment of Spring Break. The hands on and interactive instruction will help to equip these students with ways to think and respond correctly when things go wrong; not only on Spring Break, but throughout their college careers.
It is a hope that this program will continue to grow and expand to other university campuses thanks to the continued support of Hunter's Runners.
