  • What a sweet, pleasant, tender and pure voice she had. I've always loved me some Doris Day!

    Bless you!

  • @keithpiano She does have a wonderful voice - so happy you enjoyed !!

  • Yes, truly beautiful, but I still prefer it by Mary Jane Walsh (1939). Nothing by her yet on YouTube... shame.

  • @citroenHvan I'm not familiar with her - would like to hear it though. I love Doris' version...happy you enjoyed.

  • @Dayniac4324 Agreed, Doris's version is lovely! I've just uploaded the Mary Jane Walsh original.

  • @citroenHvan I will definitely check it out ... thanks !!

  • @Dayniac4324 Very true - I've withdrawn my silly comment :)

  • @Nicklas4500 Huh ? simpering ? I don't think I ever saw Doris simper. In the late 50's she was one of the few women in movies to portray a single working woman. She was always spirited but never simpering. Yes - she was and is a role model to many. In the last 20 years she has inspired many - including me - for her tireless, unending work for animal welfare. She's one of the most genuine people ever to be a Hollywood star. And is one of the best ballad singers ever !

  • @AutumnSplendors You're right, of course, she's a great international star. She's just made history in the United Kingdom as the oldest artist to have a top 10 album of new material, so she's clearly still very popular. I'm not a big fan of that style of singing but it was a silly comment to make and I'm going to listen more closely to some of her recordings.
