Lindsey German - London Protest 24th Feb 2007

This is a video of Lindsey German's speech at the demonstration in London on 24th February 2007.

Lindsey German was one of many distinguished guests who spoke to the thousands of people gathered in Trafalgar Square.

Tony Blair took us to war on Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction. There were none. 655,000 Iraqis, over 3000 US soldiers and 130 British soldiers have died in that illegal war. Now Blair wants to spend up to £76 billion on new Trident nuclear weapons for a 'defence' policy based on indiscriminate killing of millions.

Stop the War, CND and BMI organised the national demonstration to say no to these insane policies of death and destruction.

Iam gonna be graphic about this. A insurgent kidnapping a person whos not even a soldier, but a contacter helping to fix Iraq. The hold the guy down while hes alive, and saw though his neck, meaning the guy screaming in pain. Now whats worse that or a American soldier accidently killing people fighting insurgents. And you better not say they behead people becasue there upset, becasue that would be sick!

"Contractors" in Iraq are one of two types of people. Greedy workers who are happy to cash in on other people's misery or mercenaries who are given permission to operate above the law.

Is an insurgent kidnapping a greedy contractor worse than a US marine squad raping a mother and her children?

If you don't want to get beheaded then may I suggest you don't illegally invade someones country based on lies.

Your a idiot, i am sorry to say but because of us 60,000 have died, and because of the Insurgents dirty tactics 600,000 have died. Death happens in any war. Don"t act like because you consider this one Unjustified that were killers because people are dieing. You act like that now but if the war in your opinion was justified you'd be saying its for a good cause!

For someone calling me an idiot you are brave showing the World your own mental limits. 600,000 people have died in Iraq because of the illegal invasion based on a pretext of lies. Do I agree with the insurgents killing people? No. People do awful things when their friends and family have been killed/raped/tortured.

Don't imagine a situation where I might consider the breach of International law and the Geneva/Hague Conventions to be "a good cause". You are a Bush fanatic and nothing else.

This womens saying that we should of never ever went to war. In the beginning we were going after Osama but shes saying the war in Afghanistan's is lost, when its not. When it comes to Iraq, we could easily win that war but were to soft because we don't wanna kill civilians, and the government doesn't wanna win the war, there in it for a secret agenda. I dont know who you think you are women!

We've been in Afghanistan since 2001. That is 6 years. They still can't state what the objective is. It has got nothing to do with Osama Bin Laden. The war in Iraq was not a disaster because we were "soft". Over half a million people have died. Is was lost because it was wrong, illegal and justified by lies.
