Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 are good server OS's but you can also, with teaks, use them as a desktop OS. This video explains how to do this and students may want to make use of this because they are entitled to a copy of Server 2008/2008 R2 from Microsoft.

This Video covers:
Setting Up DirectX (Both)
Setting Up User Accounts (Both)
Configuring Performance Settings (Both)
Changing System User Details (Both)
Installing Software (Both)

  • Best! But where is the next video?

  • 7:30 It is actually possible to create Power Users on XP Home by using start> run> "control userpasswords2" . Click on the account name and then group membership tab.

You can also run as a restricted/power user then right click on an exe or shortcut and choose Run As when you require elevated permissions.
