I Ain't Marryin' No Friggin' Horse!!! (Otakon 2010 - Haruhi Dance)

Just singing and dancing! This vid was an upbeat, fun exercise in improvising and simulated camera techniques, and choreography.

It uses simply the "Hare Hare Yukai" dance sequence (and a moment from the regular closing credits) from "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", and the opening and one scene from "Lucky Star", as mentioned in the credits.

Set to "Big Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall.

Heh, yeah, it's about time I put this up. Well, there were a few others I did before this, like "The Mugenjou", but YouTube wouldn't allow it (I'll put up a link here to it soon). I've had a very rough time in my life, so I didn't have time to get around to this... but finally, here it is. I just got back from Otakon, where this won 1st place in the Upbeat/Dance category. :3 Yay!

So here ya go! Hope you enjoy! Keep in mind it's VERY different from typical AMVs, in that it's an entire choreographed dance routine, where I made a little footage go a long way.

Wow. I usually don't watch things like this nor have much of an interest in it but I must (and I mean MUST) say that this is incredibly well done. The syncing of the mouths to lyrics and dancing to the beat and/or rhythm of the music is so well done. The editing was also done well enough that it didn't draw much attention at all. As someone else has said, there is a lot of repetition but personally I didn't notice/mind too much and also real dancing often has a lot of repetition!

It's well synched, but it's all of about 30 seconds worth of footage replayed back and forth for 3.5 minutes. Seriously, that's just lame. I didn't see the other dance category entries at Otakon since it's so hard to get into the AMV contest sometimes, but goddamn, if this was the best one, the choices must have been scarce.

@Reogo I did try to mix it up so moves happened in different order, but I agree, it's not everyone's thing for the reason you stated. There were good videos in the category, but they weren't really dance OR upbeat enough by most opinions. They also seemed to rely far too much on fanservice/ecchi for the most part, which made for a cheap lineup. It made me sad, cuz I always look forward to that category too. But it's worth checking out the others anyway; they each had their merits as videos.

I finally found it! I saw this at the AMV Contest, and I LOVED it! The song matches up so perfectly! I just wanted you to know, though, that I voted for this to win in its genre and best overall. ^_^

Despite what some people will say, this is incredible. Yes, everyone has seen the Hare Hare Yuki Dance a MILLION times, but the editing in this is simply fantastic, even with so little material. The choreography and the "flappage" matches the song perfectly. Amazingly done. You deserve your award. ;)
