Paracetamol or acetaminophen is one of the common analgesic and pain killer in the world, OTC drug with antipyretic properties, NSAID drug. Its preparation is easy since it takes about 10 minutes by the reaction of p-aminophenol (para amino phenol) with acetic anhydried. The mechanism of this reaction is Nucleophilic acyl substitution reaction (McMurry,p 807). The procedure and the volumes are included in the movie. • The weakest analgesic + the most toxic, why the fuck would anyone separate paracetamol from opium when you could just go for morphine which is easier to extract. The only part more useless is thebaine. Paracetamol should be banned.

  • If you treat the p-aminophenol with acid chloride, both the phenol and the amine groups will react and you won't get the desired product.

  • I didn't understand one thing completely: the acetic chloride was used for acylic substitution by the amine, right?

  • weew!! thanks i needed this for my report..

  • @MsAliceHunter Man you're rude, I'm Kidding.

Yes it's difficult to understand him because he's Syrian.
