Grumpy Jii-san's been watching cartoons for way too long. After rewatching an old setting revived, he's going to chat about it.

This time, the narration is shot in Arizona's Hummingbird Springs Wilderness Area.

You can find a transcript of these remarks here:

  • I saw this movie on TV about a year ago as my first exposure to the series. It wasn't a shabby mecha anime movie you usually see for free on television and I quite enjoied it.

  • USMC (Manga Ent.), who originally licensed P in the US, are a subsidiary of Starz Media, who also own the Starz and Encore US premium cable channels. So, it ran several times on those channels. (I don't know if it's run since the US license went to B.)

  • @GrumpyJiisan USMC is actually Central Park Media. Manga Ent is owned by stars media, they are a separate entity. There's no relation between the two.

  • Come to think of it, that would explain why they gave that Patlabor movie on Animidnight one time at an Encore channel...which was when I saw it...

    The more you know! ^_^

  • It's been around a year and a half since I saw it, so it's probably still in the roster for airing on TV. I'm glad stations like those show anime sometimes and don't cut out half the content with bad commercial breaks *cough* *cough*sci-fi*cough*cough*

  • Good review. You know, I never saw 1 Patlabor movie/show in my entire life. I wanted to but there was something about this series that made me want to look away.

  • good review. i still have patlabor, but it's my vhs copies. i have yet to buy the dvds =(

  • I have never seen the Patlabor movies or OVA or TV shows, but I remember wanting to when I was first getting into anime years ago. After seeing your reviews I feel like I should watch up on them. I hope you review the other movies as well. From the looks of it the second one looks a lot darker.
