DOVER, Del.- A report released in Delaware shows some problems in how the state is informing the public about its stimulus money spending.
A new report from the Lt. Gov. Matt Denn's office shows some documents that were supposed to be on the state's recovery Web page have not been updated as frequently as state officials had hoped.
In fact, Denn said only one state workers is responsible for updating the site in his spare time.
"Every state agency is crunched," Denn explained. "Every state agency is trying to do more while being staffed with fewer people."
The report also shows schools are having problems keeping track of stimulus money, and other state agencies have been slow to spend it. The state auditor is being asked to help school districts.
However, the report was not all bad news. The report shows between 1,000 and 3,600 jobs have been saved or created because of stimulus funding. The report also showed the state has received more than $500 million in funding so far.
Denn said on Thursday that improvements to the way the state informs the public on how it is spending federal stimulus dollars are expected soon.
"I would say weeks rather than months. Once we identify a problem we try and quickly fix it," he said.
