Joe is a two year old from Jersey in the Channel Islands and suffers from an extremely rare bone marrow disorder called "Diamond Blackfan Anaemia". His body cannot produce red blood cells. He therefore requires a blood transfusion every four weeks to keep him alive. However, this in turn is causing damage to his major organs by accumulating iron. To combat this he has a drug admistered into his tummy over a twelve hour period, every night.
