These three young lads from Wakefield certainly had their finger on the nub of youth back in October 1996 when this video was made. The band Straight Up! was made up of Daniel Straight, Justin Bailey and John Inman, and this their one and only hit (a cover of Chicago's You're The Inspiration) showed the world their full potential....Filmed in Wakefield city centre. Beautiful.

It's a shame Straight Up never quite made it to the giddy firmament of success and fame they so richly deserved. I too was present at their legendary gigs in Buzz and Rooftop Gardens, as well as their comeback appearance at the 1997 Bretton DA Night, which was to be their final performance. Never forget, kids. Never forget.

These gys were awesome. I saw them perform in Buzz and Rooftop Gardens (Where I hung out with their manager Barry Finch).
